Comments and / or explanation:
***** (This collection of stained glass was presented at ''The exhibition gallery Artisans du Meuble Quebecois’’ from October 2 to October 27, 1979. This was the first important exhibition of stained glass in Montreal.)
Nos. : 1979 - 005, 006, 007 are original creations by Monique.
Nos. : 1979-008.009, 010 are reproductions of her charcoals. (See index cards no.: 1977 - 045 to 090.
Note: The no. : 1979 - 008, ''One who offers himself’’ was offered to the Most Holy Father John Paul II during his trip to Canada. There is a file on this approach in Monique’s biography on page: 2571.
No. : 1979 - 009A is a reproduction of what appeared on the cover of ''Décormag'' and gives you a better glimpse of the true colours of this stained glass.
No. : 1979 - 011 is a reproduction of one of her paintings. (See the index card no.: 1975 - 030.)
No. : 1979 - 012 is an adaptation of the canvas no. : 1977 - 115. This work was broken; it was leaning against an open window when a gust of wind made it fall. I was about to return to the studio to repair it when Monique said: ''No, no, forget it Robert, I’m sort of glad that it broke, I am not quite satisfied with the composition. I’d like to think about it before you repair it.’’ One thing leading to an another, time passed and the work was never repaired. Two years after Monique’s death I undertook the restoration of the work (in 2007). Monique never told me what bothered her about its composition. I thought that Monique perhaps found the composition ''too heavy'' for the theme ''The Man in flight'' so I chose to ''lighten’’ the composition to make it more airy. As you can see, I kept and repaired the man; I also kept non-broken glass surrounding the man. I chose to be ''minimalist'' in my composition of the background to highlight the original composition while lightening the whole. Was the ‘’heaviness’’ the source of her dissatisfaction??? Would she be pleased with what I’ve done??? Finally... the result is the no. 1979-012A.
Final Note: Under a photo of the work no. 1979 - 012, Monique wrote this: ''Under the guidance of God, man breaks his borders. The ''hand of God''.''
